HIGHFIELD CERAMICS
Studio space is also available for rent to a potter or two when not being used for lessons.
Adults and children over the
age of six are taught by a fully qualified teacher, covering all
aspects of clay work, including wheel work, and using earthenware and
stoneware clay and glazes in an electric kiln. "Having graduated, I then taught at a large comprehensive school in Camberley, Surrey covering GCSE and A Levels as well as adult education. Moving to Luxembourg some 25 years ago with a young family, I started a private studio teaching multinational and multilingual students with a diverse range of abilities and artistic backgrounds. "I mounted students’ exhibitions at a variety of venues around the Grand Duchy to promote and motivate a higher level of achievement. We also visited local exhibitions in neighbouring countries and UK to see a wide selection of European potters’ work and ideas. "The new studio is modern, light and airy with space to work outside, which will enable us to do such things as smoke and raku firings, if we are lucky with the weather. The classes are of mixed ability – from beginner to advanced. All clay, glazes, use of tools and firings are included in the cost of the lessons, which are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays and there is an after school club on these days, divided age-wise."
